Hi, everybody.

So I think I'm fortunate enough to get both BV and UTI at the same time because my vagina loves me.  I've had plenty of recurring UTIs and BV once before.   I'm currently studying abroad in Taiwan, so before I left the States, my doctor helped me out by prescribing me Nitrofurantoin (for UTI) and Clindamycin (for BV) in case I get those infections while I'm out of the country.

Well, yesterday, throughout the day, I felt a strong urgency to pee with just a few drops of urine each time.  I took my cranberry supplements (I know it's to prevent the UTI, not cure, but I took them anyways hoping they would help) and drank lots of water.  By night time, it felt like it cleared up.  This morning, I decided to start taking the Nitrofurantoin, even though I didn't feel any UTI symptoms throughout the morning.  This afternoon, I noticed the BV symptoms, a fishy odor.  It's not very strong, but stronger than normal.  Later on, I noticed white discharge.  I assumed that maybe I didn't have a UTI after all.. maybe it's BV instead.  So during dinner, I took one Clindamycin.  Two hours after taking it, the UTI symptoms are back and I can't stop running to the bathroom.

My current symptoms are:  frequent urination, but not much comes out (it doesn't burn, but my urethra is definitely irritated and tingly), fishy odor, slight discharge, and neon yellow urine (that may be caused by the meds).  I used one of those AZO UTI test strips, and I definitely have white blood cells in my urine, and it seems like negative nitrite.  I took one nitrofurantoin this morning, and one clindamycin this evening.  I know... I'm stupid for taking two different antibiotics at the same time.  I wasn't thinking straight.  Just wondering if I can get a UTI and BV at the same time? and should I keep taking the antibiotics?  More importantly, which antibiotic should I take?

If this doesn't clear up in another day or two, I'll probably go to a nearby hospital/clinic.  I'm just worried about the language barrier.

Thanks in advance!!

hey all,

update on my last question for those who helped me out with advice and reassurance - I've had to reschedule my pap test but I'm no longer freaked out about it so is all good! thanks for the support gals!

also, I was wandering the internet and I came across this - Not sure if its already been posted, but I thought I'd share as I remember reading it and thinking it was a very honest and body-positive article on the realities of genital shapes and sizes.

plus, I think the author is awesome!

Soooo...my boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship. I was supposed to fly out to see him yesterday, but he got picked for jury duty and we canceled. We decided that not this weekend, but next weekend, I'll come visit.

The bad news is, I'll probably be having my period that weekend. I really want to get laid, but the problem is that my boyfriend and I don't like period sex because it smells. Like...you know, blood. And if my boyfriend were Edward Cullen, I'm sure that'd be just fine, but he's not (fortunately). Neither he nor I like that smell, and considering I will be visiting him on my heaviest days, it will be very, very present.

Is the only way to fix this by having sex in the shower (something we've tried and failed miserably at, multiple times)? Because if so, then I shall be very disappointed. And I can't use an Instead cup because we've tried them before and they just...are super uncomfortable during sex and I also have an IUD.

Suggestions?

So I went to the doctor with my urinary tract infection. They perscribed me those pills in the subject line, and I was wondering if this would mess with my HBC? Im on reclipsen if that would help, the doctor said it wouldnt mess with it, but the informational paper she gave me on the meds, said that it would. Would anyone know the anwser to this, it would be very helpful, or if anyone had the web adress for the drug checker.

Thank you so much in advance!!

Do you think you could ever do the same thing to that person who did it to you?

Yes or No? Why or Why not?

Anyone found free porn that is specifically for girls only?
I've found forthegirls.com or something like that, but you have to pay :\

I'm looking for a site that has mainly dicks on it, and is a tad more on the romantic side, has fore play, etc.
I've tried reading erotica, but that just doesn't do it for me anymore.

so i have been reading this community for the last couple of days and looking through the memory, i have found some stuff, but not all the information that i need. i can orgasm from clitorial stimulation, quite easily actually, but i have never had a piv orgasm. are there any positions that are easier then others for this? i am dying to see what it feels like. and second of all, my ex husband really destroyed me sexually. he always put me down sexually and said i did everything wrong all the time. and that i was horrible. my new boyfriend says different, but now im scared to start anything outside of the normal everyday hum drum.  i want to do something that he will day dream about at work. text messages that really make him horny lol. i just want to regain some sort of confidence in my "ability" lol.

Hi. I'm not sure where to post this, I'm not sure it has anything to do with my vagina, but I don't know where else to ask.

I have this rash on my buttcheek. Only my left one. I've been to the doctor about it, and he gave me some medication which cleared it up, but once I stopped taking the medication, it came right back. He said he didn't think it was an STD. Some of it looks like acne, but it's very painful and sometimes bleeds. They kind of look like mosquito bites but they don't itch, and some of them are just red dots. I noticed this a few months ago and I have no idea what it is.

Do you have any idea?

Hello! I've got an uncomfortable question for you all. I developed a yeast infection about three days ago, and have been treating for the past two with garlic. My period just came this morning, but the YI hasn't really cleared up; everything is still itchy/abraded, and hurts like the dickens. The garlic was doing an all right job taking care of the itch, but what should I do now that I've got my period?

Also, should I avoid using tampons? I hate pads, and I began using Instead cups again last month, but I have a feeling they'd be too uncomfortable to put in and take in while my poor beaver is in its present condition. Is there something topical I could put on the area to make it feel less battered?

 *sigh*

I'm 99% sure I've got my first yeast infection.

Since I'm also 99% sure this is because I use a menstrual cup -- and because I'm new at it, stupid, and didn't do a good job of washing my hands before insertion -- I started looking for remedies first over at [info]menstrual_cups , because I also needed a way to get the yeast off my cup before using it again.

Anyway, I'm pretty familiar with the common home remedies from reading VP for ages (and reading every single archive, ha) so I know I can use yogurt and garlic, or even that violet stuff, but I don't have any of that lying around and today I didn't have my car.

What I did have is apple cider vinegar, and leftover tampons. Since the gals at the cup comm recommend soaking your cup in ACV to kill yeast, and since its listed as one of the possible douches, I figured why the hell not, and soaked a tampon in ACV, shoved it up there and let it be for a couple hours.

I don't have a clue how long this will take to fully kill the yeast, but I can already say that it's killed the itch. With the exception of some initial tingles and a slight burning for the first couple minutes after insertion, it doesn't appear to be bothering my vag at all. I plan on repeating the process tomorrow unless it stops working or starts hurting.

Anyway, I thought I'd post here as another alternative treatment option. Again, this is my first YI and I don't know how long they last, but I'll probably go 3 or 4 days and update here with the results. For the meantime however...has anyone else used this method?

Hi Everyone!  So im kinda scared and freaked out right now.  I just want to cry.  I started my period two years ago and have never been able to insert a tampon.  I really looked at my vagina for the first time tonight, and it doesnt look like a normal one (well it doesnt look like the diagram does).  There is a vaginal hole, but off to the side is another tiny tiny hole that kind leads to the vaginal hole (if that makes sense).  Its also very painful to even try to insert a tampon.  I don't think this is normal.  What will need to happen in order to fix this issue?   What will he doctor do?  Ugh this sucks :(  And im scared.  Help please? ??

My period is really, really late and I'm starting to get a little bit concerned.

I thought, in the past, that I was a little irregular, but I've been tracking my period on mymonthlycycles for about a year now and while I'm not almost bang on schedule, my average cycle length is about 29 days, and in the past year they've ranged from 26-31 days (and in fact, it's more often that they're on or below 29 than above it).

I'm on day 44 of my current cycle and still no period.

The chance of pregnancy is non-existant unless immaculate conception is actually possible.

I know stress can delay your period, and I have had quite a lot to deal with recently but I don't *feel* particularly stressed out, no more than I have been over the past year - and I've had some really stressful times this year.

What else can delay your period? Could it be a sign of something serious?
Waiting is my least favourite thing in the world. I know it's an odd question, but is there anything I can do to encourage my period to get itself over with?

Thanks in advance!

I feel wicked silly asking this question; you would think that at 27 years old, I would have run into this before, but for whatever random reason...I just haven't! I have my yearly OB/GYN checkup scheduled for this Friday, and it just registered in my brain that I will be in the middle of period, which is the heaviest time for me. I'm on the pill, so my periods are not super heavy, but still. Do I need to call and reschedule or is this no big deal? Can my doctor still do my exam (which includes a pap)? My yearly appointment has never before collided with my period, so I'm clueless as to whether or not this is common. Please help!

This is more so a rant than looking for actual help, but if anyone has help for me...great!

So, my birthday is this Saturday. No big deal, except that it falls during my placebo week from my HBC. Which, again, is normally not that big of a deal. I've stacked my pills plenty of times before and never had breakthrough bleeding. I haven't even had spotting since my first month or two on these pills (it's been about 2 years).

SO, I decided I would stack my pills. Lo and behold, I woke up Monday morning with a period! It was light at first, so I thought it was just a little bit of spotting. But no, as the day went on, I got to discover that this was a full blown period. Determined to make it stop, however, I took my pill at the normal time. The next morning (today, Tuesday) I woke up with minimal blood in my underpants, and none on the TP when I wiped after going to the bathroom. Great, I thought. Again, took my pill at the normal time. To be safe, I wore a pantyliner today... Which didn't really help when I got to the bathroom at school and discovered I was full-on perioding again. Thank goodness I had tampons and a bit of time before my lecture. Once I got home, I was STILL hopeful that maybe my period had decided to move on to the next sentence (bad pun...sorry). But, no, my body still wants to have a period. I will keep taking my active pills in the hope that my body realises I do not want it to have a withdrawal bleed! That, and the fact that if I were to stop now I would either have to keep my current pack as a backup, or stack again after I start taking them again. I should also make it clear that the pills I've taken from Sunday-today were indeed, active pills from a new pack, not placebos from the old one. The craziest part of this to me is that I got my bleed on Monday. I ALWAYS get it on Tuesday. Always always always. Actually, I can usually predict it down to about 15 minutes. I have no idea why my body decided to bleed earlier than normal, while I am still taking hormone pills. Whatever, body. The only thing I can think of is that I had some lengthy and rough sex Sunday night, and I KNOW that sex has a tendency to get my period started when it's close to the time. Oh body, why must you pull these shenanigans on me? That being said, I usually bleed from Tuesday-Saturday. Do you think that perhaps by my body starting its bleed on Monday AND my continuing to take active pills, I will be done bleeding on Saturday? That would really be great. And if anyone has any tips on making a withdrawal bleed stop, it would be great :)

Thanks for reading my rant :P

Hey all!
So I'm a bit worried that I may have contracted something from a guy Friday night. I gave him oral without protection and the following morning my throat was sore. I figured this was just because of the general partying I had done and ignored it. I didn't notice it really on Sunday, but for the past two days my throat has been quite sore and I have a minor cough that doesn't sound like my normal one, if that makes sense. I'm not having any other symptoms other than brief fatigue yesterday, and am a bit concerned now that I may have got something since I felt fine before Friday. Does it sound like strep or mono, or a possible STD? I'm planning on going to the doctor soon if it doesn't get better but would like to hear what you guys think.

Thanks!

So, I was directed to this site by a friend who recommended it very highly :) I must say, this place seems pretty awesome! I must have learned more about my bits in a day than I have in my entire like ;D Anyways, on to the issues I am having:

1) Labial Cyst. I think I may have a cyst on my labia majora. It is above my clit (but not near/on it) in the folds right before the hairline. It hurts on and off and is generally irritated. I have been treating it with a hot compress (it's what the internetz told me to do!), but it still hasn't gone away T_T It is about the size of a pea and isn't anywhere near the area of the bartholin's glad or other common vaginal cysts I have researched. It is also not on the hairline, so it is unlikely that it is a sebaceous cyst... Any ideas what it could alternatively be? It hurts and I want it gone :(

2) Discharge. While the boyfriend was helping me treat the cyst on night, he did a double take at my vagina and declared that it looked "crusty". After investigation, the discharge was nothing like I had ever seen before (or read about):
             - Smell: none.
             - Color: white, not opaque
             - Shape: lumpy
             - Consistency: gooey, stretchy (like discharge associated w/ ovulation)

Now, I am on HBC (Junel) and during sexual activity we also use condoms (durex) + lube (O'my). I have no itching or smell. I am hoping the discharge is either a) extreme smegma buildup or b) leftover lube. However, my boyfriend and I did have condomless sex for the first time (in a bath no less) last week so I didn't clean up afterwards as there was nothing to... well, clean up XD could it be some stubborn semen that finally decided to mosey on down?

Sorry for all the questions...! I really would appreciate any insight that you have :)

Thanks in advance!

hello all!
so thanks to this wonderful community I've learned (amongst other things) that pineapple makes you "sweeter" down there.
I've also heard that pineapple can help to reduce bloating due to some enzyme it has (it starts with a b I forget the name)
I was wondering if it's the same thing that makes you taste different? or does anyone have any experience with this actually happening/with any other foods that do the same?
does anyone have a possible explanation as to why it does? it's more out of curiosity, I suppose

also, I love this community and I always want to ask completely irrelevant questions, then I remember it's VAGINApagina, not a "why does this do that?" community for my constant four-year-old type questions haha.
is there another livejournal community that's a sort of medical/second opinion community that's as open, reliable and supportive as vp that anyone can recommend?

thanks!

ps- I just checked the memories and noticed there's already a post or two on the pineapple thing and the "vegetarians taste better" deal, but I'm still curious haha

I'm taking a trip to Miami with a friend this weekend, and just realized that I'm scheduled to start my period right when we go :(((

I want to stack so that I can skip my period, but I'm a little confused because of the type of HBC I take. I didn't keep the packet that comes with the packs so I'm not really sure what the colors mean.

I used to be on Loestrin, which was all white pills and then I believe 5 browns? But now I'm on Kariva and the system is different. There are 21 white pills, 2 green pills, and then 5 blue pills. If the blue pills are the placebo pills, what are the green ones?

Right now I have taken both of the green ones and am supposed to take the first blue pill in a couple hours. Can I just skip the blue and go straight to white on a new pack or were the green pills placebos too and it's too late to stack??

I'm sorry if that's terribly confusing, I'm a bit confused myself haha. Any idea what the colored pills are, and is it too late for me to stack since I took the 2 greens? Thanks for any help!

I'm a little worried right now because I just presumably have gotten my period again, even thought I last got it on October 20. This is the first time in years that I haven't been regular - By regular, I mean I usually get it every 28 days, with very little variability. I just noticed this 20 minutes ago, so it may be a one day thing? I really have no clue.

I'm really worried. I know it may not seem like a big deal... but any insight?

(A tiny bit of background: Last week was one of the most stressful weeks of my life, but now I feel very calm after I dealt with the problem.)

I just got insurance through my job and now I have to choose a primary care physician. I usually only go to the doctor once or twice a year and that usually involves getting a pap smear or getting BC. Would it be wise to just pick a gynecologist for my primary care physician? I have a friend that keeps telling me to pick a family doctor or someone who focuses on internal medicine because a gyno won't treat anything else except issues dealing with reproductive organs. Is this true?

Edit: Kind of a dumb question, but what do I do when I find a doctor I want to go to? Do I just call and say "hi,this is so so, I want to just come in and establish myself as a patient"? I just did some research and found a practice that does women's health along with family medicine so it works for me. I need to do this before my old BC prescription runs out lol.

10 November 2009 @ 03:01 am
I checked the memories but didn't find what I was looking for.

I get really wet really easily. Like, I barely have to be touched at all. I get too wet, to the point where my partner easily slips out and there's often.. awkward noises going on, especially with me on top. It gets extremely embarrassing.
I was wondering if any other women have this or similar problems, and if there's any way to help it.

Thnks!

10 November 2009 @ 04:23 am
I don't even really know how to explain this, but I have a wetness issue, and by that I mean I get too wet too easily. I barley have to be touched and I'm soaked, most times just a thought will do it. By soaked, I mean like ridiculous wetness that can go through panties and jeans.
This creates a very big problem. Being so wet, my partner easily slips out, A LOT. It also creates very awkward, sloppy, gross noises, especially when I'm on top. Which is extremely embarrassing.
I was wondering if any other women have the same or similar problem, and if I can do anything to help it.

Thanks!
